Causes of Foot Problems in Diabetes
Here at the Foot Clinic we take your foot health seriously, especially for those with diagnosed diabetes (types 1 and 2)
Feet can be damaged by diabetes due to prolonged elevation of blood glucose levels leading to changes in sensation loss of feeling and deterioration of the tissue all can result in ulceration.
Symptoms of Diabetes-Related Foot Problems
Your Foot Health check should be carried out annually by our colleagues in the NHS.
If not, or you suspect changes in your feet you can book your Foot Health Check with us.
We recommend that you book your foot Health Check if any of the following symptoms occur:
- Tingling sensations or numbness
- Burning pain
- Dull aches
- Loss of feeling in the feet or legs
- Swelling, making shoes or walking uncomfortable
- Absence of sweating on the feet
- Cuts, wounds, or sores that do not heal
- Cramping in calves while resting or walking
- Shiny, smooth skin on the feet
- Hair loss on legs and feet
